Sub-Zero Refrigerator EC40 OR EC50 Service Flashing

SUB-ZERO ERROR CODE EC40 OR EC50 AND SERVICE FLASHING

 

CAUSE:

  • EC40: Excessive Freezer Compressor Run
  • EC50: Excessive Refrigerator Compressor Run
  • CORE ISSUE:

    • Error code: EC 40 and Service Flashing on control panel
    • Error code: EC 50 and Service Flashing on display
    • How to reset EC40 or EC50 flashing
    • Panel is flashing, toggling between numbers and EC with a service light
    • STEPS TO VERIFY ISSUE:

      1. If temperatures are high and not likely a door ajar situation, contact Factory Certified Service.
      2. If temperatures are near normal:
        • Clean the condenser.
        • Press and hold the door ajar alarm key for 15 seconds to clear the error code.
      3. For Integrated products, make sure the kickplate is not completely covered by custom toe kick or enclosed in custom cabinetry.
        • Even if unit has worked like this for years, it can cause issues including sealed system failure.
